Bonding Multiple Rabbits

Nothing is cuter than watching two rabbits lie side by side each
other. They are clearly very happy and enjoy each other's company.
Rabbits are social animals that benefit from living in pairs or groups.
Despite the need to live with another rabbit, you cannot just put two
rabbits in a cage and expect them to immediately get along. A;ways
keep only ONE rabbit per cage.  Also, even though rabbits are
social, they need not have another rabbit friend if they have you as
a human friend.
What to Expect

Some bondings are fairly easy while others are difficult..  Rabbits
rarely like one another at first sight and indifference is a good first
sign. It means that they are checking  each other out and trying to
figure out if they can trust each other. A quick bonding can take two
weeks while the more difficult ones can take 3-4 months. On rare
occasions, bonding takes 6 months to a year. Not only will you need
space to work in, and plenty of patience. ALWAYS supervise rabbits
together that are not pair bonded.  Also keep in mind that just
because a pair of rabbits were litter mates does not mean they will
grow up to be best friends.

Will my Rabbit Change

If you have a rabbit who is friendly with you, they will remain friendly.
Because of the way we raise our rabbits here at the farm, humans
are the rabbits number one companion. . Rabbits aren't as bored
and don't need another rabbit to be social with as long as they have
you.

Rabbits Meeting Together

Always remember to have one rabbit per cage.
 Serious injury can
result from putting rabbits together in the same cage that are not
totally pair bonded.  Let the bunnies play and meet each other in a
different, open space.  It can be a big space or little space as long
as you supervise.  An exercise pen that's bit enough for a dog or
baby can work.  Outside the rabbits cage is neutral territory.
Remember that doesn/t mean there won't be fighting  so watch them
closely whenever they are out together.  Don't worry about rabbits
mounting each other of the same gender.  This is a show of
dominance, not a sexual behavior.

Multiple Bunnies

One bunny that is bonded to you and your family is really all you
need.  If you want more than one bunny than read up more on
bonding bunnies.  Don't just take another bunny home without really
thinking the matter through.  If you plan to breed bunnies than that
is another big undertaking, especially with dwarf rabbits.  I don't sell
rabbits for breeding or show.  I sell family companion pets.
